To all Georgia BMTA maintainers:
Please see the note below from Taylor Hamilton of the BRRD. On Saturday, April 5th, the BRRD is hosting a workshop on trail maintenance. Many of you could probably teach this class with almost as much vim and vigor as the Forest Service! But then, many of our maintainers (including myself) may want to attend the session for an update and quick refresher. And please feel free to pass this e-mail on to others who may find satisfaction in this type of volunteer work. We can never have too much help on our trails, so lets help get the word out.

Good morning all,
The first Saturday in April, April 5th, the Blue Ridge Ranger District will host a Trails 101 Workshop. I am posting this e-mail with you all to reach out to any of your members or any Cotrails participants or any trail and volunteer enthusiast (especially crew leaders looking to acquire a little more trail knowledge or trail maintenance and sustainability knowledge) to come out to this workshop and learn or review trail maintenance. Should be a great occasion to brush up on or build trail maintenance knowledge. We’ll review brushing, drainage features and how to clean them out, their function and the effect of water on the trail, the various water diversion methods and installation, as well as recognizing what is needed on a trail. This workshop will take place at High Shoals Falls from 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 5. Feel free to forward this e-mail as you find helpful and pass on the info. Thanks to you all! I look forward to seeing you on the trail.
