Georgia Walk-Thru on Saturday May 14
Instead of a scheduled work trip in the Georgia section of the BMT on May 14, we will be having our
yearly Walk-Thru. All members are encouraged to participate. Since we have been having numerous
storms this spring, it will be a good time to assess and report any damage, especially downed trees
along the trail. This will provide a snap shot of the trail condition. Hopefully, by mid May, most of the
heavy storms will be over for the year. Section Maintainers, I am hoping that many of you can participate,
as you know the trail well. The walk-thru would be a good time to check out another section since no
one can report on his own section for the walk-thru, We would like to do the check on May 14, but if
you cannot make it on that Saturday, you can go on days either side of that date.
To sign up for a section, go to the web site, select Maintainers and navigate to the Annual Walk Thru
section. There, you will see a list of the Georgia Trail sections and who has selected the different sections.
Pick a complete section not a sub-section, except for longer segments, which we may divide up. Call me,
Ralph Heller, at 770-235-9760 or convey your info on the Contact Form on the web site. Please, also let
me know the date you will do the check and if you will be present for the Walk-Thru on the 14th. I would
like to pair up section maintainers with persons with less experience on Saturday. With at least two folks
and two cars on each section, we can shuttle our trips. I will update the list showing your names and
sections assigned. After doing the Walk-Thru, please fill out and send in the Annual Walk-Thru Report
Form which can be accessed from the Walk Thru web page.
All participants on Saturday who have not selected a section will be paired with someone who has an
assigned section. Everyone, please call me to let me know if you plan to attend. We will meet at the
Village Restaurant at 8 am and everyone should be on their way to a section by 9am. When you are
finished, stop by the Command Center at the Pink Pig where we can collect your reports and compare
notes. If you have any questions call me.
