Chainsaw certification/recertification training

The Conasauga Ranger District is sponsoring a chainsaw certification/recertification training session on
April 29 & 30. This training is designed to certify only those volunteers who have already operated a saw
and are fairly proficient and not for beginners. It is also available for those who need to recertify, which is
required every three years. They are also considering having a crosscut saw class later in the year, and
would like to hear from those people who would like to take that course. Instructors for chainsaw will be
Rex Rymer and Jim Holland, who is a BMTA member.
We in the Georgia portion of the BMT are in need of more persons who are chainsaw certified. I am sure
that Richard Harris could use a few more also. To operate a chainsaw on our trail in the National Forest,
a chainsaw certification is required. In the wilderness crosscut saws must be used. I am sure we have
a lot of members with chainsaw experience just itching to cut a few fallen trees across the trail. Here is
your chance to become officially certified.
