제목: February 5 BMTA Fun Hike – Wayah Gap to Siler Bald Round


Trip & Rufus Morgan Falls: This is a hike double-header; come for one or both (4.8 miles total). The first
is a 1.9-mile each way (3.8 total) hike on the Appalachian Trail to the summit of 5,216-foot Siler Bald.
The 360-degree view from the top is a most awesome vista of the Southern Appalachians in three states
from a mountaintop meadow. Afterwards those wishing to do so may join the leader for a short trip to
nearby Rufus Morgan Falls with a mile-roundtrip hike. This is a 50-foot sliding fall up a somewhat wet trail
(good boots a must). Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Cottage Deli on NC 69 a half-mile south of Hayesville for
a great breakfast, or at 8:30 there if not eating, or at 9:30 at Wayah Gap (parking up little short road to
south). This hike overall is moderately difficult (all somewhat gentle uphill all morning), but we will take it
at a moderate pace. WARNING: Due to a harsher winter than usual thus far, any necessary changes in
