GEORGIA SEPT. 11 SATURDAY MAINTENANCE TRIP:

HALLOWAY GAP REHAB


This will be an easier work trip to Halloway Gap than any other maintenance trip there in our history---
because: We now have a Forest Service key to the gate atop Flat Top Mountain which allows us to
drive to Double Hogpen Gap. This means we will have a fairly flat and pleasant (yes, leisurely) mile-long,
20-minute walk to the Halloway Gap work site instead of the usual three-mile walk. Yahoooooo! And
a short walk back too at job's end!


We will improve the sidehilling on both sides of the gap as time allows, and perhaps do a little trimming
on a section beyond the gap. Hopefully we can also place the campsite signs in the gap.


Meet at the Village Restaurant for breakfast at 8:00 a.m., or if skipping breakfast, meet us there at 8:30 or
at Dyer Gap by 9:15.


SPECIAL NEED FOR THIS TRIP: Some trucks to travel the road from Dyer Gap to Flat Top Mountain to
Double Hogpen Gap. Please email or phone me if you can provide such.


And, hey, the temps and humidity have been dropping around here the last few days---hopefully Sept. 11
will be beautiful.
