Only a couple weeks now to the event………………


The Georgia Annual Trail Walk-Thru


Saturday, May 8


Plan now to participate in this great annual hike/inspection BMTA event


Meeting Time/Place: 8:00 a.m. at a new place, L & A General Store & Grill, located on the knoll
immediately across the road from our old favorite, the Pink Pig, in Cherry Log, GA several miles
south of Blue Ridge (Address: 825 Cherry Log Street). Breakfasts to suit taste on order, wide
variety, very reasonable.


Then walk your assigned trail section, filling out the trail report form given you during the week that
ends with the Saturday of the walk or at the breakfast.


Reporting Session: Mid-afternoon on – Report back in & enjoy a meal, snack, coffee, or whatever
at the old traditional favorite reporting place, the Pink Pig in Cherry Log - here you will complete
your report (or mail it later) and confer with me on what you found.


Setup: You may volunteer ahead of time for a section (see the sections on the website). Please
take more than one of the mini-sections, giving yourself anywhere from four to ten miles for most
people (shorter ones permissible). You may also just decide to show up and be assigned a
section or contact me to ask what is needed to be covered. Currently Section 4 (Skeenah to
Wilscot Gaps) and Section 10 (Dyer to Watson Gaps) are taken. One other is also tentatively taken.


You may also contact me about volunteering for another day.


I suggest, and it is popular to do so, that section walkers have company – that two or more of you
go together. I will also be glad to put those who just show up Saturday with others going.


Shuttle Assistance: I will be available after breakfast and before the Pink Pig afternoon meeting to
provide some shuttle assistance myself, so that some people with one car can park where they
will exit with me taking them to the start. Others going to adjoining sections may also provide you
with some shuttle service. We will work that out.

until May 1, when I return and will respond to e-mails then.
