Subject: GEORGIA FEB. 13 BMTA WORK TRIP CANCELLED

A message from George Owen;
1:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12


The Georgia BMTA work trip for tomorrow, Feb. 13 is cancelled due to bad weather in all northern
Georgia and especially up here in the mountains.

A. At 4:00 p.m. my home east of Blue Ridge has almost 2 inches of snow with more falling, and
its 28 degrees and dropping. My truck is loaded with the tools for tomorrow and even now there
is no way I can get down my steep and slick drive.


B. Roads in northern GA are expected to be icy tomorrow, and in the mountains many secondary
roads closed. Bushhead Gap may not even be reachable tomorrow a.m.


C. Several have already expressed hesitation about being able to make the trip here easily or
safely tomorrow.


Well, folks, this is a new record: the first time in thirty years of BMTA history that the Georgia work
trip has been cancelled two successful months. So stay home and enjoy the fireplace tomorrow.
Plan now for the March 13 Georgia trip; surely we won't have a repeat of that same March day in
1993!
