시카고 산악회의 심지로 회잠님이 우물안의 당나귀라는 글을 알려 주셨어요.
나의 현실과 상황에서 너무나 귀감이 오는 글이라서 올려 봅니다.
시간이 없어서 번역이 제데로 되었는지 모르겠어요.
(쬐게 잘못된것이 있서부랴면 알아서 싸게 넘어 가주쇼!!ㅎㅎ)

A Farmer's Donkey
어느 농부의 당나귀
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
어느날 당나귀가 우물에 빠졌다. 농부가 어떻게 구조를 할것인가를 모색하는동안 당나귀는 오랜시간을 애처롭게 울었다. 결국, 농부는 당나귀가 늙었고, 우물을 없애야 되기에 당나귀를 구하는것이 별의미가 없다고 결정했다.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
농부는 그이 모든 이웃을 불려들어서 도움을 청했다. 이웃들은 부삽을 가지고 와서 흙을 우물안으로 넣기 시작했다. 먼저, 당나귀는 어떤 상황이 벌어진다는것을 알면서 미친듯 울어 버렸다. 하지만, 모든이들이 놀라울정도로 당나귀는 조용해졌다.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up
흙을 얼마정도 집어넣고는 농부는 우물안을 결국 쳐다 보았다. 농부는 그의 눈을 의심하지 않을수 없었다. 흙을 넣을때마다 당나귀의 등에 싸였지만, 당나귀는 놀라만한것을 하는것이다. 당나귀는 자신의 몸을 털면서 위로 올라서는것이다.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
농부의 이웃들이 지속적으로 흙을 부삽으로 퍼서 당나귀의 위에 넣자, 당나귀는 흙을 떨구며 올라섰다. 조금 있다가, 모든이들이 당나귀가 우물 위로 올라오면서 다행히도 우물밖으로 뛰어 나오자 놀라워 했다.
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
인생은 당신에게 흙을, 여러가지의 흙을 뿌려 될것입다. 우물을 벗어나는 비밀은 털어버리고 올라서는것이였습니다. 우리의 모든 어려움은 디딤돌입니다. 우리가 빠진 제일깊은 우물을 빠져 나오는것은 절대 중단하지 않고 포기하지 않는것이지요. 털어버리고 올라서세요.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
행복을 위한 간단한 5가지를 기억하세요.
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
증오에서 벗어나라 - 용서해라.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
걱정에서 벗어나라 - 거의 일어나지 않을것이다.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
검소하고 가진것에 감사해라
4. Give more.
남에게 더 주어라
5. Expect less
기대를 많이 하지 마라

The donkey later came back and bit the shit out of the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock. 당나귀는 나중에 살아나서 자신을 죽이려고한 농부를 사정없이 물어 버렸어요. 물진자국이 감염되어 전염성 부작용으로 고통속에서 죽었다.
MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON:
When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you. 가는정에 오는정이라는 말처럼, 당신이 어떤것을 잘못하고 그것을 숨기면, 언젠가는 꼭 당신에게 돌아와 당합니다.
